Paul Callahan
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Paul Callahan is a graduate of Harvard College '85 and Harvard Business School '92. He was formerly employed by Goldman Sachs & Co. in New York City and then joined SAIL TO PREVAIL in his current leadership capacity in 1997. Since then, Paul has overseen the transformation of over 8,000 disabled people.

Paul was born and raised in an old mill town of less than three thousand people in southeastern Massachusetts. Learning to sail at SAIL TO PREVAIL in the early 90’s, several years after becoming a C4-5 quadriplegic, Paul skippered his Paralympic team in Sydney, 2000 - and his disabled Sonar team is ranked Number 1 in the USA for 2009. Paul’s leadership and visionary skills have taken him all over the world, sharing his thoughts and ideas with both organizations and individuals.

Most recently, his brainchild of elevating disabled sailing to compete in parity with "able-bodied" sailing, and all of sports, Paul arranged for the donation of the famous Americas Cup yacht, Easterner, to SHAKE-A-LEG Newport.

Along with his executive responsibilities, Paul is now expediting "the impossible" by working with a team of naval architects and engineers to adapt the first ever 12-metre America's Cup boat to be handled by crew members with physical disabilities. Easterner will now will be used not only to race other 12-metres at the elite level, but also to work to improve the lives of people of all disabilities, including children with cancer.
