Mission: To enable a group, disabled veterans, to experience sailing in Newport, RI throughSail To Prevail – The National Disabled Sailing Program. The program will teach the fundamentals of sailing and provide for hands-on participation on sailboats designed specifically for the disabled.

Fellow Veterans,
I want to take a moment of your time to invite you and members of your family to take advantage of an opportunity to participate in an activity as laid back, or as challenging as you desire to make it.

I'm talking about sailing with Sail To Prevail, The National Disabled Sailing Program, headquartered in Newport, RI.

Sailing is an activity where you can be totally in control of the action regardless of the disability. Our specially designed Freedom 20 sailboats can accommodate both you and your family as you sail the beautiful waters of Narragansett Bay. The Freedom 20 is safely designed to always float and the addition of rigid seating and in-cockpit controls facilitates functioning for sailors with even the highest level of spinal cord injury.

As a retired Marine with many years of service in a joint environment, I know that each and every one of us, regardless of the branch, is drawn to experiences that push our physical and mental abilities to their limits…and still come out on top!

My involvement with Sail To Prevail came about through a search for an activity that not only rekindled the warrior spirit; it presented the service member with an avenue to include the family, significant other and friends. Sailing is one of the few sports where the only thing left behind is a wheelchair, a pair of crutches and boredom.

You've given your all in service to Our Country and proven time and time again that you're ready to begin the next chapter in what has, and can be again, and exciting lifestyle.
